    40th Anniversary of 1980 Olympics Celebration!

    On Saturday, February 15, from 11-2 pm, the Lake Placid Curling Club will host a Hit the Button exhibition on Mirror Lake as part of Lake Placid’s 40th Anniversary of the 1980 Winter Olympics events. A special treat will be curling on zamboni-cleaned ice on Mirror Lake. Contestants will get 3 stone throws for $5, with all proceeds going to the Scott Hamilton Cancer Foundation. The LPCC will also be selling its new line of club merchandise, including hats, winter beanies, and T-shirts. Join the Fun!

    Champions All Around!

    First of all, a hearty congratulations to Owen! He was the winner of our Hit The Button competition on Pontiac Bay this year. This is a competition that we hold as a club every Winter Carnival located on the lake next to the Ice Palace. We’re already a could of weeks into Session 2 of our season, but we want to take a moment to congratulate our winning team from Session 1!

    Good news, everyone! If you missed our Holiday Learn-to-Curl, but are still yearning to pick up a broom you’re in luck! We will have one final Learn-to-Curl at the Saranac Lake Civic Center on January 12th. If you are already experienced, you are also invited to come out for a pick up game with LPCC curlers, with the minimal requirements listed below. We meet on Sundays from 3:45 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Requirements & Fees:$25 per session above and clean sneakers (or curling shoes)Curling equipment will be providedSessions offer special instruction by certified trainers for new curlersReturning curlers can choose between instruction an/or pick-up games Directions to Saranac Lake Civic Center…

    Learn to Curl

    Ever wanted to learn how to curl? Here’s your chance! The Lake Placid Curling Club invites the public to a “Learn To Curl” program at the Saranac Lake Civic Center.  The program will consist of two Sunday sessions from 4-6 p.m. on October 20 and October 27. The program will cover the history of the game, etiquette and sportsmanship, game rules, on-ice training, and practice. The fee is $25.00/session. Upon completion of the program, participants may join the Club for the balance of the curling season and apply the “Learn to Curl” fee to the membership fee.
