LPCC Youth Program

LPCC Youth Program2024-02-09T17:22:28+00:00

This 2024 Curling Season, the Lake Placid Curling Club continues its Youth Curling Clinic with 2 sessions for kids aged 5-15, free of charge, thanks to volunteers and community support. Building on the LPCC mission to provide community members with the opportunity to learn the safe, healthy, sociable, and fun winter sport of curling, we recognize curling offers great opportunities for kids too. The sportsmanship and etiquette, along with strategy, scoring and active sport are compelling for anyone, especially developing youth.

Hosted at the Saranac Lake Civic Center, the LPCC provides the equipment, instruction and facilities for youth curling.

We anticipate a program designed for kids ages 5-10 and 11-15 years old. LPCC will provide qualified Members for onsight instruction and coaching at the Civic Center.

The Youth Curling Program is expected to be scheduled for two days in March, with future seasons offering additional days.

Highlights of the Youth Curling Program will include:

  • Orientation to the sport of curling (objective, scoring, positions, etiquette & sportsmanship)
  • Focus on grip, release and sweeping technique
  • Review balance and delivery (add focus on proper alignment)
  • Awards (closest to the button and sweeping form)

We are looking forward to continuing this initiative, established in 2019, and have exciting engagement from the community as we offer youth programming. We’ll look forward to your feedback.

Special thanks to community support from Rotary; The SL Civic Center; and donations & volunteers from LPCC Members
